Role

DESIGN

The house was designed for a family of 3 on a flat land located at the end of a mountain covered with red pine forest. The specific requests from the owners, particularly the landscape architect with a keen interest in agriculture, prompted the integration of an indoor plant area, a greenhouse, and an outdoor shelter for farm animals. To fulfill these requirements, the initial decision was to design a residence that optimally utilized the short side of the rectangular plot, positioning it towards the forest side, thereby creating a generous open space. The use of stone walls on the facade of the house, extending from the ground floor, continued into the garden and plot borders, effectively delineating controlled passages to the back and side gardens while organizing them based on their functions. The entrance garden, featuring a 2-car parking lot, a walking path, and a fountain, serves as a communal area where the residents and neighbors establish their first contact within the boundaries defined by stone walls. The backyard was envisioned as the primary garden of the house, designed with a long pool, terrace area, greenhouse, and an animal shelter.

A bedroom, entrance-cloakroom, and WC area on the ground floor define the boundary of the living area with the entrance garden. The living area, designed at a height of two floors, offers picturesque forest views through a large and high window and turns the living area into a plant breeding experimental space with a tall plant shelf located on the south facade. Moving upstairs, one can find the master bedroom and a guest room, which includes a study niche overlooking the back garden through a window. The linear placement of the staircase ensures that the living area maximizes its exposure to the forest, thoughtfully integrated into the overall living space, along with the upper floor passage.
